Krystal is a Shareholder and is focused on meeting the needs of Colorado entrepreneurs and small businesses.
She provides comprehensive tax compliance, planning, and consulting services to small and closely held businesses. In addition to her strong tax foundation, Krystal advises clients on entity structuring, accounting best practices, and complex transactional matters to support long-term strategic growth.
Krystal also leads the firm’s cost segregation study practice, working alongside specialized engineering professionals to identify and reclassify qualifying building components in order to accelerate depreciation and optimize tax savings. Her deep understanding of depreciation strategies, fixed asset classification, and IRS guidance allows clients to confidently implement these studies with strong technical support.
In addition, Krystal leads business valuation engagements, assisting clients in determining fair market value for purposes including shareholder transactions, gift and estate planning, succession planning, litigation support, and strategic acquisitions. She holds the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation from the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA). Her combined background in tax, audit, and advisory services allows her to approach valuation assignments with a practical, technically sound, and defensible methodology.
Prior to joining Hanson & Co., Krystal served in both public accounting and private industry roles. She began her career as an auditor with a mid-sized regional Chicago firm before transitioning to a large multinational consulting firm, where she focused on lender services and transaction advisory engagements. She also spent two years as Controller for a commercial real estate brokerage firm. This diverse experience provides her with a well-rounded perspective that clients value for its depth, practicality, and strategic insight.
Krystal earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Northern Illinois University. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. She holds the CVA credential through NACVA and is a licensed CPA in Illinois and Colorado. Krystal is actively involved in various professional and community organizations throughout the Denver area.
